Do you repeat your morning skincare routine at night? While some steps may look the same, should you really use the same routine twice a day? This is a general initial-tier doubt for those who want to make a dedicated morning and night skincare routine.

Although it may sound the same, the goals are actually very different for your skin at night. Dr. Raina Nahar, Senior Consultant, Dermatology, Nanavati Max Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai, told HT Lifestyle that the Morning Skincare routine is different from the nightcare, as it focuses on protecting the pre -skin, while later about the skin repair and nutrition.
Further highlighting the difference between the two routines, he said, “In the morning and night routines, there are two different skin care rituals that people follow. What is the difference between the two. During the day, you can include a lot of antioxidants, toner, sunscreen, which are ready to prepare your skin contact, pollution, UV experiences.
The night routine is more towards anti-aging, unlike the protective nature of morning care, focuses on preservation of various environmental stresses such as pollution and UV rays. Dermat further said, “Your night routine should be such that it repairs the skin with all the stresses that are born during the day, and also for anti-aging and repair activities, that is why your night time routine is a different routine than your day care routine.”
Now, because these goals change from morning to night, there will be no help after a normal skincare routine. There is a need to customize stages according to skin requirements.
Dr. Raina Nahar shared a wide guide, including all the essential items of a nightcare routine, including phase, skin type-wise differences and equipment:
Night Skincare Steps:

1. Double-Clining Routine:
- Oil based cleanser: The first step will be an oil-based cleanser/ Michaeller water. Use an oil-based cleanser (or balm) or / micraler water, which to clean the pores thoroughly, give a few minutes to clean the oil-based residues, all makeup, sunscreen, ground and excess oil.
- Por-cleaner: Second, use a hole cleanser (water-based gentle cleanser.). It will clean the dust, sweat and frozen kumili, but does not rip essential oils.
2. Serum:
- The serums of the night time are different, and they are very important. They are retinol, which is vitamin A, it is the most powerful antioxidant, which is very powerful for antigen, lines and holes shapes, so it is especially used in the routine of the night.
3. Moisturizer
- Use collagen and peptide-based moisturizers that are thick, creamier and help you in anti-aging and reduce fine lines. The collagen molecule shape should be smaller than the hole shape, so it can be included more easily, and the skin can be hydrated.
4. Cream for spots and blue (for those who have acne)
- If people have acne, after moisturizing steps, they can use ointments of their anti-acne, according to the direction of the dermat.
- If someone has acne-prone skin, they can also include salicylic glycolic acid, benzoyal peroxide in the routine of the night time.
Fine tuning night routine

- For an aging skin: Include collagen, hyaluronic acid, retinol
- for dry skin: Include peptide ceramide-based moisturizer.
- For oily skin: Can use a light, soft moisturizer that does not close the pores.
Using Gua Sha
- Gua can also include Sha, which is a simple tool to promote lymphatic drainage.
- This helps you tone your skin, helps reduce water retention, and gives a good massage effect. It also helps in anti-aging and helps in covering the face.
