GATE 2025: What is the objective of GATE 2025? Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee—Nodal institute conducting Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2025—will open registration window for admissions Postgraduate Engineering Programs Apply at gate2025.iitr.ac.in on August 24. The last date to fill the admission form without late fee is September 26, 2024.
As per the notification, the last date for the extended online registration/application process (with late fee) is October 7, 2024.
The exams will be held on February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025 in two shifts – forenoon and afternoon, on each of these days. The first shift (forenoon shift) will start at 9:30 am and end at 12:30 pm, while the second shift (afternoon shift) will start at 2:30 pm and end at 5:30 pm.
Candidates must note that they can fill only one application form. If they wish to appear in a second paper (from a two-paper combination), they can add the relevant paper to their original application. In case of more than one application, only one will be accepted, and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund for the fee paid.
GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
As per the notification, candidates presently studying in the third or higher year of any school graduate degree program Or those who have completed any government approved degree programme in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.
GATE 2025: Application Fee
Female/SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities (per test paper): 900 (between August 24 and September 26) and ₹ 1400 (with late fee: September 27 to October 7, 2024)
All other candidates including foreign nationals (per test paper): 1800 (24 August to 26 September) and ₹ 2,300 (with late fee: September 27 to October 7, 2024)
GATE 2025: Exam Pattern
According to the IIT-Roorkee notification, GATE 2025 will have 30 test papers. The test papers will be in English, and candidates will be allowed to choose one or two test papers from the acceptable combinations. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and GATE Score The result will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result.

Distribution of marks in all papers except Architecture (AR), Chemistry (CY), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), Ecology and Evolution (EY), Geology and Geophysics (GG), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), Statistics (ST), Humanities and Social Sciences (XH), and Life Sciences (XL):
General Ability : 15 Marks
Engineering Mathematics: 13 marks
Subjective questions: 72 marks
Distribution of marks in A.R., C.Y., D.A., EY., G.G., M.A., P.H., S.T., X.H. and X.L.
General Ability : 15 Marks
Subjective questions: 85 marks
GATE 2025: Marking Scheme
The questions will be of 1 mark or 2 marks
Negative Marking: There will be negative marking for wrong answers in the MCQs.
In 1 mark MCQs, 1/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
In MCQs carrying 2 marks, 2/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
There is no negative marking for wrong answers of MSQ or NAT questions.
There is no partial marking in MSQ.
