Symptoms of Narcissistic Abuse in C-PTSD:
feeling overwhelmed: We may feel constantly overwhelmed, both mentally and physically. We may feel a sense of alertness all the time and a feeling of walking on eggshells.
Identification: We may feel cut off from ourselves. Our sense of identity may be lost and we may feel distanced from ourselves.
Solitude: Narcissistic abuse can manifest as an attempt to gradually isolate us from others. Therefore, a feeling of isolation is common.
self respect: We may constantly believe that we are not worthy – this can affect our sense of self-esteem and lead us to believe that there is something wrong with us.
decisions: Life can seem overwhelming and making choices – even the simplest ones – can seem very complicated.
mental health: Persistent emotional states such as depression, stress, and anxiety are common for people who are experiencing narcissistic abuse in their relationships.
working capacity: Functioning in daily life may seem difficult. Activities that once seemed easy may seem very difficult to complete.
Well being: When our overall well-being is compromised, it can show up as physical symptoms like headaches or stress-related illnesses.
emotional toll: When we are in a relationship with a narcissistic abuser, it can have an impact on our emotional health. This can leave us feeling broken and weak and shatter our sense of self-worth and confidence.
