She bought this car from Satish Motors Pvt Ltd, an authorized dealer of Jaguar Land Rover, and its warranty was till January 2023. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, the use of the car was reduced during this period. When the ban was lifted and Rimi started using the car, she faced many flaws in the car. These included problems like sunroof, sound system and rear-end camera.

According to Rimi, on August 25, 2022, the car collided with a pole due to a faulty rear-end camera. Upon reporting the problem to the dealer, Rimi claims they ignored the problem and asked for proof, following which a cycle of repairs began. After fixing one problem, a new problem would crop up.
In her legal notice, Rimi alleged that the car has many flaws right from manufacturing to the repairs done by the dealer. She said that the car was sent for repairs more than ten times, yet the problems persisted, causing her mental harassment and huge inconvenience. Rimi Sen has demanded a compensation of Rs 50 crore for mental harassment and Rs 10 lakh for legal expenses. Along with this, she has also demanded a new car in exchange for the car.
What were the features of Rimi Sen’s car
Recently, a video of Rimi Sen’s car went viral. It was seen that it was a 2020 model Range Rover SUV. The online registration number shows that it is a petrol variant. The SUV was available with 2.0-litre petrol, 3.0-litre petrol and 5.0-litre petrol engines. The 2.0-litre variant produces 296 bhp and 650 Nm of peak torque.
The 3.0-litre turbo engine produced 335 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque. The 5.0-litre variant used a supercharged engine that produced 567 bhp and 700 Nm of peak torque. Prices for the Range Rover SUV in 2020 ranged from ₹ 91.27 lakh (ex-showroom) to ₹ 2.19 crore (ex-showroom). Range Rover also offered a diesel engine.
Mercedes-Benz was also accused
According to cartoq.com, this is not the first time a luxury car manufacturer has faced such trouble. A few months ago, the Supreme Court of India had asked Mercedes-Benz to return or replace cars sold with defects. The court had upheld the decision of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), which ordered relief to two companies who faced problems after purchasing luxury cars.
