Ranbir Kapoor said he tries to balance his work and family life as an actor by spending enough time with his wife Alia Bhatt and daughter Rhea.
Ranbir Kapoor may have only done a cameo opposite Aamir Khan in Rajkumar Hirani’s 2014 blockbuster science-fiction satire PK, but he looks up to him as a senior actor. On Nikhil Kamath’s podcast People By WTF, Ranbir recalled a valuable advice on work-life balance he got from Aamir. What did Ranbir say?
Ranbir said, “I met him (Aamir) two years ago… he was crying, I asked him what happened, he said, ‘I have spent 30 years of my life and my only relationship is with my audience, I have no relationship with my children, I have no relationship with my mother, no relationship with his ex-wife (Kiran Rao), she was his wife at that time.'”
He said, “This is what happens in this profession. You have to give your all. So the effort is also to maintain a balance between your reel life and real life and not get swayed by ambitions. I do not want to get swayed by ambitions.” Ranbir is taking time off from shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of Ramayana and is spending time with his wife Alia Bhatt and daughter Rhea Kapoor.
Aamir on work-life balance
Last year, in an episode of Koffee With Karan season 8, Aamir had told host Karan Johar, “A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I was not nurturing my relationships like my work. I realised I had not spent as much time with Ira (daughter) and Junaid (son) since they were kids. Now, in the last few months, I am a changed person. I connect more with my family, my kids, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s (ex-wife) parents, my mother, sister and brother. I would have loved to spend more time with them at the cost of my work. But at that time, I was completely immersed in what I was doing.”
Aamir’s son Junaid Khan recently made his Bollywood debut with the film Maharaj. His daughter Ira Khan got married earlier this year. Aamir will next be seen in the film Sitare Zameen Par.
