Here are some post-Holi tips that can help protect your skin and hair:
1. Clean gently: First clean off excess color from the skin. Then, wash your face with a mild cleanser or a DIY mask containing turmeric, gram flour and milk. If the color doesn’t come off at once, don’t rub too hard to get all the color out.
2. Humidity: After cleansing, use a hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin from drying out. This will help you recover soon from color, water and sunlight.
3. Sooth the skin: Your skin may feel dry or itchy due to harsh chemicals present in colors or prolonged exposure to sunlight and water. Use a hydrating ingredient like aloe vera gel to soothe your skin. You can also mix honey and curd to make a paste. Leave it on your face, neck and body for 20 minutes and wash thoroughly. This will hydrate your skin well.
4. Protect Your Skin: Holi can be very harsh on your hair. To remove excess color, first wash with plain water. Wash them with a mild shampoo and condition them thoroughly using a nourishing conditioner or cream. Alternatively, use a hydrating mask to lock in moisture!
5. Skip makeup: Makeup can irritate the skin and hair styling tools can damage your hair. It’s best to avoid these while your skin and hair are regenerating. Also, drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated from within.
Taking care of your skin and hair after the festivities is very important to keep them healthy, hydrated and free from damage. Follow these tips to protect your skin and hair from the effects of Holi colors and restore their natural glow!
