Washington, June 3 (PTI) is a drive and ambition in the main population of India and this is the reason that its economy will always continue, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik has said that President Donald Trump has deeply praised and respected India and the two countries and both countries have “great relations” simultaneously.
One of the most extraordinary economies in India is, Lutnik said in his main address in the eighth edition of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Leadership Summit here on Monday.
“The key that creates an extraordinary economy is the determination of the people. How much do you care about being in business? How many entrepreneurs are they? How much do they drive to be better for their families?” He said.
“Whatever I know about India, it is a drive and ambition in the main population of India, and that is why the Indian economy will always grow and flourish because it is from underpinning and hence you can do things in India that are in many other countries, you can’t just do it.”
He said that when President Trump thinks ‘America first’, he does not find ‘America only’ or ‘America especially’.
“First, he got to take care of the house, so we are big and strong, but then he is going to take care of his colleagues. He is going to ensure that he takes care of India, which he praises and honors deeply, deeply and respects and we are going together with a great, great relationship,” Lutnik said.
Responding to a question on Indian talent in the US against the backdrop of ongoing visas and immigration discussions, Lutynic said that the success of Indian entrepreneurs in the US, the success of individuals of Indian nationality and the “great companies” of America are to run “” because they are great entrepreneurs, fabulous businessmen, smart, thoughtful, educated in every way.
“But I think the simple path of immigration for the US is changing. Trump card is coming out. I hope the Trump card will really create a big opportunity for people to have the ability to come to America,” he said, “He said, referring to USD 5 million ‘Trump Gold Card’ on the lines of a green card, which will intensify the process of living and working in America.
Lutnik said that he feels that “we are going to succeed incredibly in India. So when people ask me,” When are you coming to India? ” I would say, ‘When I launch Trump Card, I promise you that I am coming to India.’
He said that it is a great opportunity for people to become part of two economies – Indian economy and American economy, and people will be able to come to the US and participate in the US.
“Here’s the key. You can become like a green card holder, equal, it is a trump gold card. You can do it in this way and pay the global tax, or you can put everything in the same way as it is and simply pay us on American property, and you do not pay anything on your global assets and any inheritance tax, and no one has any goods.
“And that’s what we are going to call it an international entrepreneur.
This is a special category, and I think it will be very well received among the great people of India, who want to participate and the means of participating in the US, “he said.
In response to the question whether the US is more to help to pursue more manufacturing in India, Lutnik said that the US wants to bring back advanced manufacturing to the United States.
He said, “This is a major industrial platform for us, which is to start domestic manufacturing and resume in the US,” he said that a large number of products categories are that “we are going to be happy to produce for India.”
He said that there would be a trade deal that says that some types of industries will be great for India’s production.
“And in fact, there are a large number of industries that we would really like to go to India. What happens, you create a business deal that keeps India in a unique position because it will have a special relationship with the United States and some industries.
He said, “It will have a better tariff relationship than most other countries of the world, meaning that India will be the beneficiary of those types of products,” he said, some will need to resume for the US, but will be replaced with incredible opportunity for India, one of the most extraordinary economies.
On whether he sees opportunities for cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber security and emerging technology between India and America, Lutnik said, “Our view is that we want to embrace our colleagues and our friends in a way that is much more open than the Biden administration, not even on the same hemisphere.
“So we love our colleagues. We want our colleagues to participate in the AI revolution with us. And if India is interested, which is this, and it wants to build giant data centers and it is part of that model, we are ready, interested and are ready to embrace India as a partner and friend in that route,” he said.
