Parliament monsoon session: Amid protests by members of India Block, both houses of Parliament were postponed for the day on Tuesday, who raised slogans against the ongoing voter list amendment in Bihar and called for discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Both houses will meet at 11 am on July 23, which were the third day of the monsoon session of Parliament.
The Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju slammed the opposition to what he said to the double standards. The minister said, “They (protest) are demanding discussion and we are ready for this. Then why are they not allowing the House to work?” The minister said.
“This double standard is wrong. If you want discussion, do not make uproar. The government has said that we are ready for discussion. You are wasting public funds,” he said on Tuesday, speaking amid opposition opposition on the floor of the House.
Opposition of the opposition continues
The opposition on Tuesday postponed for adjournment in the Lok Sabha by raising slogans against the ongoing voter roll amendment in Bihar and discussing Operation Sindoor.
Opposition members threw the Lok Sabha well on the second day of the monsoon session of Parliament, demanding a rollback of the Special Intensive Amendment (SIR) exercise launched by the Election Commission in Bihar before the scheduled assembly elections at the end of this year.
When the house was re -combined at 12 noon, BJP member Jagdamika Pal, who was on the chair, asked the floor leaders of the opposition parties to return to their seats and allow the house to work.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said, “The government is ready to discuss any issue, which allows according to the speaker rules. I appeal to you to return to my seats.”
Pal also urged the opposition members not to see the placard and instead write their demands in the Business Advisory Committee meetings.
As the uproar continued, Pal postponed the proceedings till 2 pm. The house was later adjourned for the day after the protests continued.
Similar scenes were also seen in Rajya Sabha.
Speaker about Birla Interview
Earlier, when the Lok Sabha houses met at 11 am, the opposition MPs, including the Congress, were on their feet, demanded discussion on the amendment of the electoral rolls in Bihar and Operation Sindoor.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan appealed to the opposition members to go back to their seats so that the House could raise questions related to the farmers during the nomination time of the question hour.
Speaker Om Birla intervened and told the opposition MPs that the dignity of the House was reduced by shrinking and showing the placard. Later he postponed the house till 12 noon.
The House could not work on the first day of the session on Monday after the opposition protest on the demand for discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Under Operation Sindor, the armed forces attacked Pakistani terrorist sites and defense establishments for three days starting on 7 May after the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April, killing 26 people.
