In a major step to promote sports and rewards excellence, the Delhi government on Monday raised cash prizes and government jobs for the Olympic medalist from the capital. According to the new policy, athletes winning Olympic gold will receive 7 crore, silver medalist will be awarded 5 crores, and will meet bronze winners 3 crores, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood announced.
Apart from cash incentives, the government will also provide Group A Jobs for gold and silver medal winners, while bronze medalists will be eligible for Group B posts in government services.
