“People don’t buy Schiaparelli, they collect it” – perhaps nothing sums up the progress made by the haute couture brand over the decades. Creative director Daniel Roseberry presented his Fall 2024 Couture collection at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris on June 24. Through its feminine silhouettes, the collection showcased statement shoulders, feather bodices and an abundance of texture. While Schiaparelli maintained her delicate and whimsical brand aesthetic, what caught the most attention was actress Selma Blair’s unique choice of accessory when she attended the main fashion event.
Selma is known for her work in some of pop culture’s most iconic titles such as Cruel Intentions (1999), legally Blonde (2001) and the sweetest thing (2002), the beauty mogul sat front and center at the Schiaparelli show at Paris Couture Fashion Week alongside Kylie Jenner, rapper Doja Cat, tennis pro Venus Williams, and singer Anitta. While they each chose Schiaparelli ensembles that reflected their individual styles, Selma’s androgynous beige-on-white look particularly caught people’s attention, thanks to the mismatched blonde braid that hung around the actor’s neck, which was fashioned into a tie.
The golden hue on the tie was a perfect shade match for Selma’s blonde hair, all credit to London hairstylist Paul Jones. The colour choice matched well with her oversized beige pant suit consisting of wide-leg trousers and blazer, the latter embellished with golden cuff links and accents. Golden accents also appeared on the compact and peculiar Veneered handbag, which was another shade match for her dark brown belt. Selma’s look for the morning stole the show despite being pitted against Kylie’s tulle-veiled shimmery pink couture gown and Doja Cat’s camp-esque blazer dress.

Even more recently, and just as campy, if not more so, was model Maggie Maurer’s runway look from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The white ribbed top, deconstructed pants and matching boots with a baby robot strapped to her chest were decked out in rhinestones from head to toe in true Schiaparelli style.
