New Delhi. A recent news had worried all Indians including the army and security agencies. When former scientist Nishant Agarwal, who played a major role in developing the Brahmos missile based on Indian technology, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Sessions Court. Award winning engineer Nishant was accused of handing over secret information related to the missile to foreign powers and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment under Section 235 of the CrPC.
UP ATS officer Pankaj Awasthi, who is investigating the case, says that Nishant leaked many secrets of the army while talking to a woman with the Facebook ID ‘Sejal’ from Pakistan. During the Facebook chat, he talked to the Pakistani person and many important information got leaked.

3 apps caused the scandal
The investigating officer told the court that while chatting with Sejal, Nishant clicked on 3 links on her instructions in 2017 and installed the related apps on his laptop. These 3 apps were Qwhisper, Chat to Hire and X-trust. These apps were a type of malware, which removed all the data from Nishant’s laptop. Investigation revealed that many secret facts related to the Brahmos missile were in Nishant’s personal laptop, which is a violation of security rules.

During investigation, Nishant told that he had also chatted with Sejal on LinkedIn. Where Sejal had talked about hiring him. She had told Nishant that she will get him a job in UK’s Hayes Aviation. In this way, Nishant got trapped in her trap and gave her information about the army. Ultimately, his life is being spent behind bars.
How the accused was caught
Nishant’s dark deeds were exposed in a joint operation by Military Intelligence and UP’s Anti-Terrorism Squad. Nishant was an engineer in the India-Russia joint venture team that developed the Brahmos missile. This missile has been jointly developed by DRDO and Russia’s Military Industrial Consortium.
