NIRF Ranking 2024: On Monday, August 12, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad again retained the top spot for the best business school in India. IIM-Ahmedabad is second IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Kozhikode, IIT-Delhi, IIM-Calcutta.
A record 10,885 institutions applied for this year’s rankings, reflecting a significant increase in participation and competition among India’s academic institutions since its launch in 2015.
As per NIRF Ranking 2024, IIM-Mumbai It was ranked sixth, followed by IIM-Lucknow, IIM-Indore, Xavier School of Management-Jamshedpur and IIT-Bombay.
These people attended the program on Monday Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India, UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadeesh Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
What is NIRF ranking?
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on September 29, 2015. The framework outlines the methodology to rank institutions across the country.
The higher educational institutions have been listed in 13 categories – overall, universities, medicine, engineering, management, law, architecture, colleges, research institutes, pharmacy, dentistry, agriculture and allied sectors, and innovation.
2024 edition of NIRF RAThree new categories were added to the rankings – Open Universities, Skill Universities and State-funded Government Universities. AICTE Chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe said that NIRF rankings will also include sustainability rankings from next year.
NIRF Ranking 2024: Weightage given to each parameter
Teaching, learning and resources, as well as research and professional practice, are each given a weightage of 30 per cent, graduation outcomes contribute 20 per cent, outreach, inclusion and perception make up 10 per cent of the total weightage.
NIRF Ranking 2023: An Overview
A total of 8686 institutes participated in NIRF 2023. IIT Madras topped the list of colleges in the country for the fifth consecutive year, while Miranda House topped the list of colleges in the country for the fourth time in 2023.
