Earlier, the Supreme Court of India had issued notice to the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) on a plea seeking quashing of the NEET UG result, saying it had affected the sanctity of the medical entrance exam.
Meanwhile, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to produce the original records of a student who alleged that she has not yet received her NEET result.
Students, parents, and teachers are worried about the results of the NEET UG 2024 exam. Some students scored 718 and 719 marks, and some became toppers by scoring 720 marks, which was possible because NTA decided to give them grace marks.
In a press conference held last week, the Director General of NTA said that the decision to award grace marks was taken as per the recommendations of a committee. He said that these candidates were affected due to loss of time due to distribution of wrong question papers and/or torn OMR sheets.
Another four-member committee has been set up to review the issue. The agency said a final decision, including the possibility of a reinvestigation, would be taken after the committee submits its report, which is likely to happen within a week.
The NTA also released a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers to clarify allegations and concerns regarding the conduct of the exam, determination of marks, compensatory marks, etc.
