Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ruled that there is a need for a detailed investigation into allegations of financial irregularities against Aastha Education Society, which runs several educational institutions, including medical colleges.

In his order passed on October 9, Justice Vishal Mishra said the audit report of the society indicated financial irregularities 200 crores, and in the circumstances no relief can be granted to the petitioners.
The society had moved the court seeking quashing of the First Information Report filed by the state Economic Offenses Wing.
The court said the FIR was based on audits conducted by renowned auditors whose reports are accepted by the government at various levels.
The order said the report clearly indicated a significant financial embezzlement and required a detailed investigation by the EOW.
The petition filed by society office-bearers Shweta Choukse, Jai Narayan Choukse, Dharmendra Gupta and Anupam Choukse said it runs several educational institutions, a medical college and an affiliated hospital. It said Aastha Society is a private society registered under the Madhya Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 1973 and does not receive any financial assistance from the government.
The petition claimed that the respondent Anil Shanghvi was a former member and had earlier filed a complaint with the EOW but it was rejected by the investigating agency.
The allegations in the present case are the same, with the society claiming that the EOW registered the case without issuing a notice or providing any opportunity for clarification.
The petitioners also expressed apprehension that they could be arrested.
During the hearing, EOW presented the case diary before the court and argued that the investigation is in the initial stage.
After hearing both the sides, the judge rejected the petition.
