PM Narendra Modi’s comment on “redistribution of wealth” has drawn strong reaction from several opposition leaders including AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Kapil Sibal. Addressing a rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, PM Modi said that if the Congress party comes to power, it will distribute people’s property among Muslims. The Prime Minister also cited the remarks of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in which he had said that the minority community has the first claim on the country’s resources.
Hitting back at the Prime Minister, the AIMIM chief hit out at X, writing, “Modi today called Muslims infiltrators and people with many children. From 2002 till today, Modi’s only guarantee has been to abuse Muslims and get votes. If someone is talking about the wealth of the country, he should know that under Modi’s rule, his rich friends have the first right on the wealth of India. 1% of Indians own 40% of the country’s wealth. “Common Hindus are intimidated by Muslims while their property is being used to enrich others.”
On PM Modi’s statement, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal questioned, “What kind of politics and culture is this?” Talking to reporters, he said, “Recently PM Modi gave a speech, it seems that the first phase The election has not taken place. After that speech I think many people will be disappointed…which shows that the minorities living here are infiltrators?…”
He further added, “You can never keep Hindustan intact by banning the horse’s bride of hatred. We respect the post of Prime Minister and the person holding that post but when the PM is not worthy of respect, the intellectuals in the country should raise their voice. Mohan Bhagwat is silent. Why is he silent?…”
Congress leaders have also reacted to PM Modi’s ‘hate speech’ in Rajasthan. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, while targeting PM Modi, said that no Prime Minister has reduced the dignity of his post so much. Speaking on the Congress manifesto, Kharge said, ‘Our manifesto is for every Indian. It talks about equality for all. It talks about justice for all.”
“What Modi ji said is not only hate speech but also a deliberate ploy to divert attention. Today the Prime Minister did what he has learned from the values of the Sangh. Lying for power, giving baseless references to things and making false allegations against opponents are the specialties of RSS and BJP training. 140 crore people of the country are no longer going to fall prey to this lie. The Congress President said, “The judiciary of the Congress is based on the foundation of truth, but it seems that the throne of the dictator like Goebbels is now shaking.”
Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi said that after the disappointment in the first phase of voting, the level of PM Modi’s lies has fallen so much that he now wants to divert public attention from the issues out of fear. “The trends of immense support for Congress’s ‘Revolutionary Manifesto’ have started emerging. The country will now vote on its issues, vote for its employment, its family and its future. India will not go astray!” Gandhi tweeted.
What did PM Modi say in Rajasthan?
Addressing a rally, the Prime Minister said, “The Congress manifesto says that we will meet the mothers and sisters, calculate the gold, get information about it and then distribute that property.” Whom will we distribute – Manmohan Singh’s government had said that Muslims have the first right on the country’s property.
“Earlier, when their (Congress) government was in power, they had said that Muslims have the first right on the country’s property. This means who will this property be distributed? It will be distributed among those who have more children.” Modi added. Meanwhile, the Congress has claimed that its manifesto does not talk about “redistribution” and that it supports a “comprehensive socio-economic caste census”.
