Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP Head Mehboba Moutes has written to Home Minister Amit Shah to imprison the case of separatist Yasin Malik through a human lens. In other allegations, the owner was one of the prominent leaders of JKLF, who abducted Mufti’s daughter Rubaiya Saeed in 1989.
“When I differ with his political ideology, no one can ignore the courage that took him to renounce violence and choose the path of political engagement and non -violent dissatisfaction,” Mehboba Mufti shared a letter on his X account.
In 1989, Rubaiya Saeed, the daughter of the then Home Minister and father of Mehboba Mufti, was abducted by Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of Mufti Mohammad Saeed, by separatial Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, when she was returning home from a medical college where she was chasing MBBS. The kidnappers demanded the release of five jailed members of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in exchange for Saeed’s release.
Janmata Dal, headed by party’s Prime Minister VP Singh, agreed to the demands, with the external support of the BJP and inspired the state government to release the jail terrorists.
In 2004, JKLF accepted its role in the kidnapping and the court case continues. In July 2022, Rubaiya at the time identified Yasin Malik, one of the prominent leaders of JKLF, as one of his kidnappers.

Rubaiya Saeed, the third daughter of Mufti Mohammad Saeed, was then 23 years old, and a medical intern at the Red Dead Memorial Women’s Hospital.
Malik is currently registered in Tihar Jail. The government alleges that Yasin Malik, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022, was involved in the activities that were threatened to the sovereignty of the country and was closely associated with extremism in Jammu and Kashmir.
On 11 August, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought death sentence for separatist leader in a terrorist funding case. The court gave Yasin Malik four weeks to register its response and posted the case for 10 November.
