In a remarkable coincidence and through a sheer determination, both a 49 -year -old physiotherapist and his daughter of Tamil Nadu approved the NEET exam. The mother secured a seat at the Government Medical College near her home district, while the daughter waited for her counseling session for admission, PTI said.
Amuthalli Manivanan found the syllabus very challenging and very different from his school days. However, inspired by her daughter’s preparation for the national screening test, she began her preparation. He scored 147 out of 720 in NEET. Meanwhile, Samyuktha, who scored 450 marks, is waiting for a seat through general category and also eligible under SC Kota.
A Jubilant Amuthvalli said, “My daughter again woke up my ambition after her daughter was ready for NEET. She was my biggest inspiration. I borrowed her books and prepared for the exam.”
CBSE student M Samuktha attended the coaching classes, and also helped the books she used.
He said, “When I have studied with someone, I felt easy to remember. My father, being a lawyer by profession, was not interested in medicine. And since she welcomed from a medical background, my mother was receptive,” she told PTI.
On July 30, when counseling for TN Medical Admission began, with his daughter, Amuthavalli participated in consultation under benchmark disabilities (PWD) category persons and selected to join the Government Medical College in Veeradhunagar near his original Tenkasi.
Amuthwali mentioned that he tried to attend the MBBS course after finishing school about thirty years ago, but did not chase physiotherapy instead.
Speaking to reporters, Samuktha said, “I don’t want to study with my mother in the same college. I want to compete in normal quota and study elsewhere, perhaps outside the state.”
Amuthwali said, “My husband was very assistant. He encouraged us to study for NEET.”
Under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, the Selection Committee on July 30 organized offline consultation for 7.5 percent reservation for students of government school, special categories, PWD, ex -servicemen and eminent sports persons.
