Currently more than 12,000 teaching positions have been vacated across India in Kandria Vidyalayala and Navodaya Vidyalayal, as reported by the Ministry of Education. Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary shared this information in a written response in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, PTI said.
“As of now, there are 7,765 vacant teaching positions in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and 4,323 in Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti Nationwide,” He stated.
“The vacancies in the posts of teacher in the Kandriya Vidyala Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalayala Samiti arise due to various reasons such as the opening, retirement, resignation, promotion, transfer, employees took action for other departments and upgraded schools.”
The minister said that the process of filling these vacancies is going on and steps are being taken as per the relevant recruitment rules.
“There is a provision to appoint contractual teachers for a temporary period, so that there are 143 vacancies in group -A academic positions in National Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to ensure uninterrupted educational functioning. There is a process of filling these vacancies,” said Chaudhary.
He also said that there are 60 vacancies in the National Council for Teacher Education so far, the report states.
Ministry of Education has also informed Rajya Sabha 4.7 lakh pirated NCERT textbooks According to PTI, since 202, nationwide has been seized across the country. Chaudhary has informed the incidents of piracy related to NCERT textbooks from various regions across the state.
“Examples of theft of NCERT textbooks have been obtained from different parts of the country. During 2024 and 2025 years, about 4.71 lakh pirated copies of NCERT textbooks are seized in various tasks in various states. Piracy is mainly operated by commercial objectives of dishonesty,” said Chaudhary.
