According to KCNA, the missiles flew on a fixed path over the western sea of the Korean Peninsula and fell accurately on their target. Kim Jong Un said that North Korea will continue to strengthen its nuclear warfare capability without limit. He made it clear that in the current situation it is necessary to test the credibility of the nuclear deterrent force and its ability to respond rapidly. South Korea’s army has also confirmed this launch. According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, several cruise missiles were fired from the Sunan area near Pyongyang at around 8 am on Sunday morning.
Kim Jong came to see the nuclear submarine
South Korea’s Defense Ministry said that North Korea’s continuous military activities in the past week are undermining peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula. Many nuclear activities have been seen from Kim Jong this week. North Korean news agency KCNA reported that Kim Jong had inspected the construction work of a nuclear-powered submarine with his daughter. Apart from this, he also witnessed the testing of long-range surface-to-air missiles. Experts believe that through these incidents, North Korea is indicating both its future leadership and military direction.
North Korea has made S-400 air defense system?
According to another report on Saturday, the North Korean army successfully tested a new long-range surface-to-air missile, which is capable of destroying targets up to 200 kilometers away. This is a new example of the strength of North Korea’s air defense. This test was conducted in the Sea of Japan and the top political leadership of the country was present in it. This missile is believed to be part of the Pyongae 6 system, which is considered equivalent to the Russian S-400 system.
How strong is North Korea’s air defense?
The North Korean People’s Army Air Force has operated one of the densest air defense networks in the world for more than five decades. During the Cold War era, its foundation was laid on the Soviet Union’s S-75 missile system, which was strengthened in the 1980s with the more powerful S-200 long-range missiles. The purpose of these systems was to shoot down enemy fighter planes and bombers from a great distance.
Since 2017, North Korea gradually began to replace these old systems and deploy the Pyonghae-5 system made with indigenous technology. This missile system was completely developed and prepared within the country, although the role of technical help and transfer from Russia is also considered important in it. According to military experts, the Pyongae-5’s capability is considered equivalent to the Russian S-300 system of the 1990s, which marked a major jump in North Korea’s air defense power.
America also deployed new weapon
The US recently confirmed that it has conducted the first live-fire test of the M270A2 rocket artillery system in South Korea. This will be the first such deployment. Unlike the lighter and more maneuverable HIMARS rocket artillery system deployed by the US Army, the M270 uses a much heavier tracked launcher that has twice the firepower, but is significantly slower, more expensive, and more difficult to transport. It is said that their test has also been done in Ukraine.
Why is North Korea enraged?
Recently, America has taken some steps which are clearly angering North Korea. Notably, the US pursued a nuclear-powered submarine deal with South Korea and allowed an American nuclear-powered submarine to enter the Korean Peninsula, which North Korea has termed as aggression.
