The Miss Universe Organization has dismissed pageant executive Navat Itaragrisil from competing in this year’s pageant following a heated public clash with Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch on November 4. The debate took place during a livestreamed event before the pageant and quickly spread online, leading to greater scrutiny of the situation.
Miss Universe president Raul Rocha announced the decision in a video posted on the organization’s official Instagram page on Wednesday.
Speaking in Spanish, he shared his disappointment at Navat’s behavior, saying he felt “a lot of resentment toward Navat for his public aggression” toward Bosch. Rocha said Navat’s participation in the 74th Miss Universe pageant to be held in Thailand on November 21 will now be restricted or removed altogether.
Due to this incident the contestants walked out
The controversy began when Nawat called out Bosch during a livestream and accused him of refusing to join a group photoshoot organized to prepare social media content. Bosch denied the allegation, but Navat continued to publicly scold him while the other contestants watched. The situation worsened until Bosch left the room. Many contestants soon stood up and started following him in solidarity with him.
Rocha said the Miss Universe Organization is committed to the dignity and respect of each contestant. “I will not allow the values of respect and dignity for women to be violated,” he said. To prevent further conflict, he also announced that the sash presentation event would be postponed to avoid any interaction with Nawat.
Rocha additionally urged Miss Universe Organization CEO Mario Bucaro to speak on behalf of the pageant and confirmed that legal measures were being considered.

A public apology has been made after the incident
After this Nawat has issued an apology. On November 5, he cried at a press conference, saying, “I’m human. I didn’t want to do anything like this.”
In a video shared on TikTok, he appeared emotional while addressing journalists as a man stood nearby holding a tissue. Later, during a grand welcome event the same day, he again apologized, saying that he respected all the delegates and was sorry for any inconvenience.
The Miss Universe Organization, Bosch and Navat had no further comment.
