Maruti Suzuki ended December 2025 with its strongest sales performance ever, setting new records in wholesale and retail sales, the company said on Wednesday.
December has become a record-breaking month
Domestic wholesales in December stood at 1,82,165 units, the highest since the brand began operations, registering a growth of 37.5 per cent year-on-year. Exports during the month stood at 25,739 units, while sales to other OEMs increased by 9,950 units. Total wholesales for the month grew by 22 per cent to 2,17,854 units, making it the highest monthly sales in Maruti Suzuki’s 42-year history.
Retail sales in December reached 2.86 lakh units, surpassing the high of 2.52 lakh units in December last year. Dealer stock levels are currently at an almost three-day low, while pending bookings across the network are close to 1.75 lakh units.

2025 ends up being Maruti Suzuki’s best year ever
For calendar year 2025, Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest ever annual numbers with wholesale sales of 18,44,169 units and retail sales of 18,71,508 units. This was higher than 2024, which was the company’s best year before that.
The third quarter also saw record performance, with sales of 5,37,433 units, up 22 percent year-on-year. Retail sales during the quarter stood at 6.83 lakh units.
Growth was seen in all major sectors. The mini car segment grew by nearly 92 per cent, compact cars by 43 per cent and utility vehicles by 32.6 per cent.
Which models and segments drove the numbers
Among individual models, Baleno was the best-selling car in the industry with wholesale sales of 22,108 units in December. Franks and Desire also performed strongly. For the full year, the Dezire emerged as the best-selling car in India with around 2.14 lakh units sold. Alto sales stood at around 10,000 units in December, including around 4,000 units of the S-Presso. The mid-size SUV segment recorded sales of around 38,000 units during the month.

Maruti Suzuki’s Victoris also witnessed strong demand with retail sales of Rs 14,000. The model has received over 70,000 bookings so far, and around 35,000 customers have already taken delivery.
CNG vehicles were the major contributor to volumes. CNG retail sales were close to 7 lakh units in 2025, and CNG models now form 37 percent of Maruti Suzuki’s total portfolio.
The company said that pending bookings in the mini segment currently extend to about one and a half months, while no decision has been taken yet on bringing the prices back to pre-GST levels.
