Maheep Kapoor went through a very bad time recently. She is worried about launching her daughter Shanaya Kapoor in the film industry and she has been diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes. In an episode of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, she spoke to her husband, actor Sanjay Kapoor, about how Sridevi and Mona Kapoor’s deaths affected their children. ‘When I woke up in the ICU I could see it’
Maheep revealed in an episode that she got infected with Covid-19 in December 2021 and was diagnosed with ‘severe Type-1 diabetes’ in March 2022. One day when Sanjay was in LA, she called him saying that he was unwell as his ‘sugar level had gone up to 700’.
Sanjay explained his side in detail and said, “You were lucky that you were immediately admitted to the hospital. I remember Shanaya was in Mannat (Shahrukh Khan’s house). I said, you leave immediately. I was in constant touch with Kannu (nephew Mohit Marwah). Kannu literally pulled you and put you in the car. If you had not gone, you could have gone into a coma.”
Maheep said his nephew ‘saved his life’ and doctors told him his organs could have been damaged. “I never told you about the children (Shanaya, Jahaan). And how he dealt with the whole situation,” she tells Sanjay. “When I woke up in the ICU, I could see it on his face, he was scared. You know, somewhere, what happened to Sri (Sridevi) and Mona had such a deep impact on the children that they were in shock.
Sanjay also said that he saw Shanaya ‘grow up in those three days’ as she handled phone calls, talked to doctors and coordinated with the family during Maheep’s hospitalization. Sanjay’s brother Boney Kapoor’s first wife Mona died in 2012 after battling cancer. His second wife Sridevi drowned in a bathtub in Dubai in 2018.
