Maharashtra’s School Education Minister Dadaji bhuse On Thursday, the Legislative Council told that the government is fully committed to deal with the issue of decline in student number and school dropouts. He said that the administration is taking extensive steps to get quality education to every child and to stay connected with the school system.
Speaking during a detailed discussion, BHuse explained that while the data shows a slight decline in nomination numbers under the UDISE system, there are valid reasons behind this. Many students go to ITI courses, diplomas and other skill-based streams after class 10. However, since their school records are not updated properly, they are incorrectly marked as a dropout.
The minister said that to fix it and bring back the actual dropout to the mainstream, the government has launched a special campaign in Maharashtra from 1 to 15 July. Each student’s learning journey will now be tracked through a unique code called Aadhaar Linking and Aapaar ID. He said that the data of 86% of the students has already been collected so far, and about 95% Aadhaar linking has been completed.
The minister also assured that the government is working hard to improve the quality of education. More than 9,000 highly qualified teachers have been appointed recently, and recruitment for more than 10,000. Schools are being supported with free textbooks, uniforms, nutritious mid-day meals, clean drinking water, toilets and playgrounds to welcome children.
Land made it clear that no school would be closed. He called upon the public and elected representatives to support the government’s efforts to ensure that every student had opportunities to learn good, joy without any obstruction.
