The Central Meteorological Department has issued a red warning in 11 districts as heavy rains continue in Kerala. Red alerts have been issued in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Tharisur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod districts. The districts are expected to receive very heavy rains. A orange warning has been issued today in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha districts, which means that there is a possibility of heavy rains in these areas.
A holiday has been declared for educational institutions in 10 districts due to heavy rains. According to the instructions issued by the government, people living in landslides, landslides and mountain flood areas should go to a safe place in hilly areas receiving heavy rainfall. People living in low-loud areas where waterlogging are common should go to the camps prepared after assessing the situation. Whereas people living in unsafe houses and people living in weakened roofs should be particularly cautious due to the possibility of strong winds. Relief camps will be set up in advance in the event of persistent heavy rains in those districts where red and orange alerts have been declared. Information about the building identified for the relief camp in their area will be declared in advance from the relevant revenue and local authority officers and a safe route should be understood by the government.
