Hyderabad: Hyderabad city is known for its historical forts and palaces. There are many special places here and one of them is Erram Manzil, it is a palace. It is in Hyderabad, Telangana state of India and its history is very special. It was built around the year 1870 by Nawab Safdar Jang Musheer-ud-Daula Fakhrul Mulk, a nobleman of Hyderabad state. From then till today, neither the beauty of this palace has diminished nor the number of people who love it. There have been changes with time but they have not been able to reduce its importance.
Why was Erram Manzil named?
According to historian Dr. Shamiuddin, this mansion is on a hill, which is called Erragadda i.e. Red Hill in the original Telugu language. For this reason, Nawab Fakhrul Mulk decided to name this palace Erram Manzil. In some books it is written that Erram or Iram (ايرام), a Persian word meaning heaven. For this reason it was named Erram Manzil.
Because it was situated on a red hill, this palace was painted red. The Nawab intended that the mansion be known by two similar-sounding names. Iram Manzil for the Persian-friendly Muslim elite of the state and Erram Manzil for the local Telugu people.
Tourist Opinion
Danish Mujtaba told Local 18 that it is strange that people are not aware of this amazing palace. Even many locals don’t know about this place and I think the solitude here gives this palace a mysterious beauty. Regarding this, another tourist Samp Kumar said that Erram Manzil Palace gives a unique experience to cyclists. At the end there is a challenging climb which excites the cyclists.
How to reach this palace
Due to its central location in the city, it is an interesting place worth visiting at least once. Its heritage should be preserved for future generations. This wonderful palace is located barely 5 minutes’ walk from Iram Manzil Metro Station. The nearest railway station from this palace is Secunderabad which is at a distance of 8 km.
