Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai on Tuesday urged the Delhi High Court to prevent online platforms from using their names and images for illegally AI-related pornographic materials. The court indicated that an advertisement-sub-order defendants would be passed to protect his personality and publicity rights without its consent from using his name, voice, or equality. Further instructions will be issued to take down the URL that violates his rights.
Why did Aishwarya Rai reach Delhi High Court?
The suit filed by Aishwarya and her lawyers in court is related to the misuse of her name, image, voice and equality for commercial advantage without her consent. Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, who appeared in the court on behalf of the actor, said that ‘unrealistic intimate photos’ was being broadcast online.
In the court, Sandeep said, “His name and image are being used to fulfill one’s sexual desires. It is very unfortunate.” The argument filed by Aishwarya mentions: “Many unidentified parties are using anti -artists, artificial intelligence and deepfec technology, who are killing/superimposed to the plaintiff’s face and the plaintiffs of the plaintiff which are sexually clear.”

Aishwarya’s suit has provoked websites like Defendants, AishwaryaWorld.com, APKPure.com, Bollywoodteeshop.com, KashcollectiveCo.com, who sell products unnecessarily with the actor’s name and picture.
In addition, her petition mentions e-commerce platform Etsy, organization Aishwarya Rashtra Dhan Motivational Speaker, Chatboats with AI Varnas, www.jainatori.com and YouTube channel @newnwstamil, @bollywood_cinematv07. It also mentions Google LLC, Union Electronics and Ministry of Information Technology and Department of Telecommunications.
The High Court then posted the case on 7 November for further action before the Joint Registrar of the court and the court on 15 January 2026.
Explained personality rights
Aishwarya is fighting for her right to publicity, which is popularly known as personality rights. It is the right to protect someone’s image, name, or equality, control and profit. The actor is now trying to protect his name, voice, image, a unique style and signature of communication distribution. His petition mentions that it is all more egoistic that his equality and others are being used in ‘unexpected and unnatural’ ways.
In the past, stars like Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan have also approached the court to protect their personality rights.
