New Delhi [India]March 25 (ANI): Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that in the next two years, Indian roads will be better than the United States.
He said, “I don’t think there is any problem in the road area. This year and next year’s changes will be so important that I used to say that our highway road network will match America, but now I say that within two years, our highway network will be better than America.”
Addressing the Times Drive Auto Summit and Award 2025, the Union Minister highlighted recent developments in the region.
Speaking at the event, Gadkari believed that India would cross the US in EV adoption and manufacturing over the next five years.
The Union Minister explained the works of the ministry and said that the distance between cities like Delhi, Dehradun, Jaipur or Bengaluru will be reduced considerably.
When asked about Tesla’s entry into the country, the Union Minister said, “This is an open market; who also has power, come and make it and compete in prices.”
He said that transport manufacturers in the country are quality-focused rather than cost-focused.
He expressed confidence that car manufacturers would make good vehicles and present them at a competitive price.
The Union Minister reiterated his commitment to reduce the logistics cost, stating that the cost would be in single digits, making India competitive with the world.
The country’s logistics cost is currently about 14–16 percent. The Union Minister also revealed that he has targeted to build a 60 -km road network every day.
