Kanpur: Don’t be surprised if you see robots working at all the sub-stations of Kanpur Electric City Supply Company Limited (KESCO) in the city. Because, in the coming time, robots will handle all the work at more than 90 sub-stations in the city. Actually, Power Grid organization has signed an agreement with IIT Kanpur. Under this, robots will now do the inspection work at the substation daily. Robots have also started working at the Panki substation of the city. The reports that these robots will provide to top officials. Based on that he will remove the shortcomings at his level. Senior Professor of IIT Kanpur, Bishakh Bhattacharya said that this robot has been prepared in IIT Kanpur itself. Its testing is going on at Panki sub station.

More work will be done in less time
It is generally seen that when a fault occurs at a sub-station, it takes a lot of time for the electricity workers to find that fault. In such a situation the general public gets worried. At the same time, this inspection robot will also detect electrical faults easily. After this the fault will be rectified soon. In such a situation, the electrical worker will get convenience and the work will also be done on time and easily.

Ready in 2 years
It took about 2 years for IIT Kanpur to create this inspection robot. It is now in the final stage. Right now it is reducing semi-autonomously. Work is going on to make it fully automatic. It has cost about one crore rupees to make this robot. This is the only and first inspection robot in the country.

Can be useful in various fields including defense
Senior Professor Bishakh Bhattacharya of IIT Kanpur said that this inspection robot can be used by power departments across the country. Along with this, it will prove to be very effective in various other fields also. If we talk about defense sector, it will prove to be very effective even where humans cannot go. This robot can reach there and collect data. Can figure things out. It can help in bringing intelligence information. Along with this, if there is an earthquake somewhere in the country, then it can assess the situation there and prepare a report. This will prove to be a milestone for inspection work in various areas.
