Hours after resigning as Himachal Pradesh minister, Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh said he would “not press for his resignation until the observers’ talks and action are completed”. He has still refused to withdraw his resignation.
After the meeting with central observers, Singh “rejected” the offer of his resignation by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and cited the need for unity in the party. In view of this, he told reporters, he is not “pressing” for it.
He said, “There is a difference between withdrawing the resignation and not pressing for the resignation until the negotiations and action of the observers are completed…” Said,
Top Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and DK Shivkumar reached Shimla on Wednesday to hold talks with disgruntled party MLAs.
A group of Congress MLAs, including six who cross-voted for the BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections, are understood to be “disappointed” with the functioning of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and are demanding his replacement, PTI reported. . ,

Singh, who rebelled against the Congress government in the state, said, “We have spoken to the observers. We have informed him about the current situation… I will not insist on my resignation until a decision is taken. A final decision will be taken in the coming time…”
Meanwhile, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said that party observers are talking to Congress MLAs and taking their opinion.
“First, he met the PCC chief. He also met Vikramaditya Singh. CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that he is not going to accept his resignation. [Singh] Have also agreed not to insist on his decision to resign…”
Vikramaditya Singh had then also claimed that the state government was never in crisis.
His statement came as the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was in trouble after cross voting by six Congress MLAs in the Rajya Sabha elections.
Congress demanded disqualification of these six MLAs from the Assembly. Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania heard the case and reserved his order.
There is also a possibility of six MLAs being disqualified in some other case. Speaking in the Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harsh Vardhan Chouhan said party MLAs were issued a whip to remain present in the House during voting on the budget on Wednesday. “But these MLAs protested by staying away,” PTI quoted him as saying.
Meanwhile, 15 BJP MLAs were also suspended from Himachal Pradesh Assembly. The BJP wanted a vote on the budget, which they felt would show that the Congress had lost its majority in the state assembly.
But in the afternoon, the crisis was briefly averted as the House passed the Finance Bill by voice vote with no BJP member present. After this the Speaker adjourned the session indefinitely.
