The state government is raising the standards of education by introducing English medium education from class one in all government schools.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday said the Himachal Pradesh government will implement English medium education from class one in all its schools from the new academic session. He said this while presiding over the 54th Statehood Day celebrations at Dharampur in Mandi district.
“The state government is implementing English medium education from class one in the new academic session in all government schools to enhance the quality of education while fulfilling the election promise,” he told the gathering. The Chief Minister also said the government aims to set up six green corridors by the end of March, which will ensure convenient e-charging stations for tourists and locals. 13 charging stations will become operational in February and a total of 108 stations are planned to be installed at identified petrol pumps within the next two months. He said the Kiratpur-Keylong Green Corridor is already operational, with five e-charging stations installed and three stations from Shimla to Bilaspur.
The CM said that e-vehicles are being promoted on a large scale in Himachal and the state government has banned the purchase of petrol and diesel vehicles in all government departments from January 1. He also remembered the invaluable contributions of the former Prime Minister. Indira Gandhi and Dr. YS Parmar, the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in achieving statehood. Sukhu said that this is the first time that Statehood Day is being celebrated in Dharampur sub-division of Mandi district.
“We are grateful to the stalwarts who have taken Himachal Pradesh to the top among all the hill states. Special tribute to the resilient and hardworking people of the state, whose dedication towards progress has been the driving force,” the CM said. “In the ongoing journey of development, the state government is working tirelessly to serve the people, ensuring that relief and development reaches every section of the society,” he said.
