“We encourage community life,” Ajit says, “We have people coming from all over the world to come here on business or holiday, we also get a lot of backpackers. So everyone lives with all ages, ethnic and background and even eat together.
The hotel used an in-house South Indian restaurant, served simple, domestic and cost-effective “tiffin”. It was remembered by nearby mill workers, taxi drivers, families visiting families and even the nearby ministry and politicians working in the Bombay High Court.
However, about 15 years ago, gas cooking was not allowed on the ground floor, a court order was ended by a rich business. He said, “We had many women, wives mostly, who used to ask us to resume the kitchen,” he said, laughing, “because we took care of her husband’s lunch.”
