Hedge fund manager and Wisdom Hatch founder Akshat Srivastava surprised his followers by posting a job for an analyst position in the UAE. This opportunity has attracted attention not only for the role but also because of the low salary they offer. The basic salary starts at around Rs 1 lakh per month and the package becomes tax free after one year. What makes the job even more unusual are the requirements. Applicants can have any degree, no prior finance experience and even college dropouts are eligible.
Candidates must show evidence of managing their own investment portfolio and demonstrate the ability to outperform the market. They must also create a sample $100,000 portfolio to beat the Nasdaq within a year, explaining investment options, risks and hedging strategies.

Back up everything you write with data/proof. Discuss specific securities. Use AI. Use books. Do primary/secondary research (doesn’t matter). Organize your thoughts and Present well. No world limits.
Write as much/as little as you want to present your point. 3) Create a sample portfolio of 100K USD (in the market now). Justify each investment by November 2025. Study the market outlook. Sector Outlook. Theme Outlook. Portfolio Goal: Beat Nasdaq over the next 1 year. How much cash will you keep (vs. how much in investments). Explain why this portfolio is likely to outperform the Nasdaq. What are the risks? And, how do you stop it?”

Social media users raise questions on salary structure
Responding to the post, a user wrote, “You are leveraging someone’s expertise to earn crores of rupees, yet offering just Rs 1 lakh in salary and cleverly capping 50 to 500% PB. Why not fix 500% PB? Your geography changed, but the mindset did not change. This still reflects the legacy of undervaluing talent and exploiting effort.”
Another shared, “If someone is able to beat NASDAQ who will work for you or anyone else. Very strange requirement and post.”
One comment said, “If you’re applying to work for this beta, you’ll never make it to alpha.”
One person said, “It sounds like an exciting role, but I think the focus should be on taking someone with potential in a real job, training them with your experience, and then giving them wings to grow. If the core value you want is ‘Alpha Generation’, then that potential is built over time, not pre-proven through some portfolio or upfront performance based structure.”
Another noted, “So much for a 1 lakh salary, crazy. Well, with the things you mentioned a person can easily make $10k+ per month or build their own portfolio.”
Another asked why they should work for them if they are already able to earn high returns on their portfolio. He seemed confused about the issue of joining this role when his personal investment had already been successful and wondered whether he was missing some opportunity.
