Delhi University (AAP) Admission: The academic session for 2025-26 at Delhi University will start from August 1, 2025. This new session will welcome students coming to colleges. However, any senior student, while harassing the juniors during this period, found that strict consequences would have been faced. In compliance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) Guidelines, all DU colleges have established anti-coagling committees. For example, Aurobindo College has implemented specific measures to prevent ragging and ensure safety of all students on the campus.
Anti-Ragging Remedy:
DU and UGC have issued clear instructions to colleges, emphasizing their duties to maintain a ragging-free campus. Each college has constituted an anti-ragging committee accordingly.
Principal of Aurobindo College, Prof. Arun Chaudhary said that the committee was established after the UGC guidelines. Dr. in the committee Hansraj Suman, Dr. Raunak, Dr. Anil Mashi, Dr. Divyendu Jha, Dr. Pratakha, Dr. Pankajendra Kishore, Dr. Rishi, Dr. Members like Shakhar Shashank and others are included. This committee includes teachers, employees and students to ensure monitoring of ragging complaints at all levels. Posters and awareness materials related to ragging have also been prepared in the college.
Pro. Arun Chaudhary clarified that any form of harassment by a senior by a senior – whether oral, written, rude behavior, or fake – would be considered ragging. On receiving a ragging complaint, you can follow strict action such as suspension, penalty, or police participation. According to the UGC guidelines, people involved in ragging can be suspended from college, and in severe cases, an FIR can be filed. The punishment may involve the cancellation of degrees or admissions.
In his attempt to prevent ragging, colleges are focusing not only on punishment, but also on increasing awareness. Dr. Hansraj Suman mentioned that at the beginning of the new session, various programs will be organized to educate students about the adverse effects of ragging. Workshops and seminars will be organized to spread awareness, and the harmful effects of ragging will be attached through plays and stories. Interactive sessions will be held to promote a friendly atmosphere between senior and junior students.
