Donald Trump celebrated the release of American woman Fay Hall from Taliban custody, shared her gratitude message today

President Donald Trump shared a video on social media on Saturday, characterized by an American woman Fay Hall, who was detained by Taliban in Afghanistan since February. In the video, the hall expressed his deep praise for the President’s efforts in achieving its release.

“Thank you for bringing me home. I was never proud to be an American citizen,” the hall said. He further expressed his support for Trump, saying, “I am happy that you are in the office.”

The hall also admitted that other women have still been detained in Afghanistan. He said, “They are waiting for you to come and free them,” he said, Taliban detention still mentions those people.

Trump responded to the message of the hall with a post, which wrote, “Thank you, Fay – so honored your words!” With video of his statement.

Diplomatic effort behind the release

According to a source, the hall was issued on Thursday “after a court order and with logical support from Qatar, which is mediation from the US. The source further said that the hall was detained on charges of using drones without the authority.

The release of the hall follows a diplomatic blow by Trump’s envoy Adam Bohrler and former Trump officer Zalmay Khalilajad, who traveled to Kabul to talk on his freedom. His efforts also featured the earlier release of American citizen George Glizman, who had been in custody for two years.

Confirming health and welfare

After his release, the hall was taken to the Katri Embassy in Kabul, where he did medical checks. A source familiar with the situation confirmed that she was in good health.

In the talks, a prominent person Zalme Khaliljad posted a picture of the hall smiling with the Katri representatives before his departure. Khalilajad wrote on X, “American citizen Fay Hall, which has been released by the Taliban, is now in the care of our friends, Katris in Kabul, and will soon be on the way to his house.”

British couple are in custody

While the hall has been freed, the British couple detained with them, Peter and Barbie Reynolds, Taliban detained. Reynolds, both in their 70s, have been living in Afghanistan for decades and run school training programs for 18 years. He remained in the country even after the Taliban control in 2021.

His daughter has publicly appealed for her release, expressing deep concern for her father’s health. “We are seriously worried about their good and request for their safe return,” she said.

Running autocracy and expectations for a new chapter

Hall and Glizman are among many Americans, who have been released from Taliban custody this year. In January, two Americans, Ryan Corbett and William McCant were freed in exchange for an Afghan fighter, Khan Mohammad, who was convicted of narco-attitude in the US.

Despite these diplomatic efforts, at least one other American, Mahmud Habibi, remain in custody.

Since Trump’s renovation, the Kabul government has hoped a “new chapter” in its relationship with Washington. However, the Taliban -led government is not unfamiliar by any nation, although diplomatic channels are open through countries such as Qatar, Russia, China and Turkey.
