Sushmita Sen is a reputed Indian actor, model and philanthropic person known for her unequal grace and elegance. One of the most notable moments of her career was the Miss Universe 1994 crown, which became the first Indian woman to win the prestigious title.

In a conversation with mid-day shared on YouTube in November 2023, Sushmita was asked whether she should be addressed as a former-Mis Universe or if the title is always the same. The actor answered the question, remembering another incident, where he was asked the same question. Let’s find out what he said:
‘Once a Miss Universe, always a Miss Universe’
During the mid-day interview, Sushmita was asked, “Can we still say Miss Universe? Is it a Colonel or a common-like that always remains a colonel, or does it become a pre-Miss Universe?”
While sharing that he was happy that someone had asked him a question, Sushmita remembered an incident when she crushed her successor in Namibia. The star revealed that the day he left his crown to the next winner, the Miss USA was standing with Martin Brooks, who was then the chairman of the Miss Universe Organization.
During a conversation, Martin told the actor, “So, Sushmita, you are going to be removed tomorrow morning.” The actor, who was only 19 years old at the time, replied, “No, I resigned yesterday morning.”
Soon after, while they were participating in the Coronation Ball, Sushmita recalled, “They came to him to ask in the Coronation Ball, ‘Do we put’ former Miss Universe ‘?” He immediately looked at me and said, ‘Object on it.’ So I said, ‘I have objections!’ He then said, “Once a Miss Universe, always a Miss Universe.”
Why the president of the Miss Universe organization said so, Sushmita clarified, “Because you have a dedicated year of victory. So you say Miss Universe anytime; you say Miss Universe 1994.”
