Cut the risk of liver disease up to 50 percent: Top doctors show what to eat and what to do

Amidst the increase in liver diseases between both urban and rural population, doctors on Friday emphasized a significant link between diet habits and liver health.

On the eve of World Lever Day, medical experts are sending messages of “food is medicine”, saying that healthy changes can reduce the risk of liver disease by 50 percent today.

President of Lever Transplantation Society of India, Dr. Sanjeev Siggle said, “Poor dietary options, alcohol, processed food and loss to the liver with sedentary lifestyle, if we take action today, it can be reversed.”

He said that the liver has a remarkable ability to fix itself and even years of damage can be reversed with a change in the right lifestyle.

Diet rich in fresh fruits, green vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins not only prevents liver disease, but also supports liver regeneration.

“As doctors, we look at miracles when patients switch to cleaner diet-the level of enzyme improves, energy levels bounce back and long-term health results are much better. The first step is reading the first step reading food label and reducing dependence on processed foods,” Sayer said.

The theme for this year’s World Liver Day – “Food Is Medicine” – underlines the importance of diet in maintaining liver health.

A massive study published in “Frontiers in Nutrition” has strengthened the important role of diet in liver health. Adherence to anti-inflammatory dietary patterns, such as the Mediterranean diet and healthy food index 2020, which was associated with the low risk of chronic liver disease.

Chairman of Lever Transplantation Society of India-Election Dr. Abhdeep Chaudhary said, “One of the three Indians is now at risk of fatty liver disease, and many people do not even know it. It is a silent situation-without symptoms. As long as medical studies also show that the early stage can have an impact to remove the effect even with liver damage.”

Chaudhary-Vice-Chairman and head of the Department of HPB (Hepato-Penkrito-Billian), who are surgery and liver transplantation at BLK-Max Hospital, Delhi, further said, “By selecting fresh yield, home-ripe food, hydration and mindful eating, we can keep liver diseases in and fasting in the fasting.

Another recent study published in “nutrients” highlights a link to a link between high fructose intake from processed foods and the development of steetotic liver disease associated with metabolic dysfunction in children suffering from obesity.

Research indicates that excessive consumption of fructose, usually found in sugary beverages and processed snacks, is associated with an increase in fat accumulation in liver and insulin resistance.

These findings underline the immediate need to reduce additional sugars in the diet of children to combat the increasing incidence of pediatric disease.

“Food-labeling reforms, nutrition-driven school food programs, and sugars drinks and ultra-related foods require strong action by presenting taxes. He said, “Give preference to clean food, avoid unnecessary medicine and understand that liver – body detox powerhouse – deserves daily care. A healthy liver means you are a healthy,” he said.

According to experts, this year’s World Liver Day Message is even more important that data-powered revelation is that up to 50 percent of liver disease cases can be prevented only by changing food habits and improving nutrition.

Medical studies also suggest that even early stages can reverse the effects of continuous lifestyle changes.

Chaudhary said, “The liver quietly supports over 500 functions – processing toxins, regulating metabolism, supporting digestion and strengthening immunity. It’s time when we stop taking this vital organ.”

“By making informed food options, reducing alcohol consumption and exercising regularly, we can prevent liver damage and reduce the increasing burden on India’s healthcare system. This World Liver Day, let’s start a movement where nutrition becomes the origin of preventive drug.”
