The last day of Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI was a vibrant showcase of creativity, with a seamless blend of established design houses with the innovative spirit of emerging talents. Students of Pearl Academy showcased their design skills on the runway by reimagining jute and khadi and giving it a modern look. His disruptive ideas and cutting-edge designs were a hit with the audience.
Designer Suneet Verma made her ready-to-wear debut with her collection inspired by Cher and Zeenat Aman. This included stylish jackets, practical shirts, jaunty skirts, flowy dresses and co-ord sets, ensuring that the garments had the utmost adaptability.
Designer Ravi Bajaj’s Lumina collection included dramatic metallic touches, some impressive 3D accents, sparkles of crystals and flirty tassels. His menswear was strong and highlighted experimental silhouettes.
Reena Dhaka experimented with lush textures and intricate hand embroidery. There was a distinctly organic feel to the spirit of the 90s that evoked out-of-Africa nostalgia.
Another designer who made headlines on the last day of the showcase was Ankur Verma’s TIL. Their patchwork and kantha stitch work made the costumes attractive. Layering remained an integral part of his design ethos.
