Common University Entrance Test or CUET is one of the biggest examinations in India. Last year 28 lakh students had applied for the examination. The number of candidates is expected to increase this year. The registration process for CUET UG 2024 exam will start soon on the official websites – cuet.samarth.ac.in, and cuet.nta.nic.in.
Clearing CUET UG is required for admission to undergraduate courses in many central universities, state universities, private universities and deemed universities. Some of the top tier universities that accept CUET UG scores include Delhi University, Lucknow University, Banaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, etc.
CUET UG is conducted for 12th pass candidates. This year this examination will be conducted between 15th to 31st May. Due to the large number of applicants in the examination, this examination is conducted for several days. This year many changes are being made in the examination.
CUET UG 2024: Changes in the exam this year
– The examination will be conducted in hybrid mode. With this, candidates from rural areas will get the facility to take the exam near their home. CUET UG exam will be conducted daily in three shifts – 9 am to 11 am, 12.30 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm to 5.30 pm.
– This year, the subjects in which more students will be registered will be conducted on OMR sheets instead of Computer Based Test (CBT) format. Apart from this, UGC will use many schools, colleges and educational institutions as examination centres. This will benefit the candidates from rural and remote areas.
– Last year, CUET candidates were given the opportunity to choose 10 subjects. But this year candidates will be able to choose only six subjects. According to NTA, most of the candidates were not choosing the full 10 options. Reducing the test paper subjects will make the allocation of exam centers easier. These six test papers will include three domain subjects, two languages and one general subject.
