And if we’re going to stay healthy and lose the weight we’re aiming for, Raj Ganpat, a fitness coach with 18 years of experience and founder of Chennai-based The Quad, has six pointers to keep in mind. He shared these in an Instagram post on December 29.
1. Eat less
“You need to eat less,” Raj said. “Not too little, you don’t have to deprive yourself. But you have to make sure you’re not constantly overeating.” According to the trainer, this is something that most of us do regularly and hence, it is something that should always be on our minds.
2. Eat well
Eating well means we should eat more nutrient-dense foods such as proteins and vegetables, and less empty foods such as sweets, fried and starchy foods, Raj explained.
3. Exercise regularly
We should exercise at least three days a week and ideally five to six days a week. It doesn’t matter how hard we train or how precisely we do the exercises, there should be at least two days of strength training every week.
4. Moving frequently
We should move often, not as part of any exercise, but as regular walks throughout the day. According to Raj, we should aim to walk at least 6000 steps per day, and ideally 8000 steps or more.
5. Sleep more
,Most of us don’t get enough sleep,, Raj said. ,Going to bed about 20-30 minutes earlier each night will help you do this, but make sure you’re getting at least six hours, ideally seven hours, of sleep every day.,
6. Manage stress
The instructor explained, ,We all have stress. There’s no way to live a life that’s completely stress-free., ,So, you need to do everything you can to manage stress so you’re able to do the work you need to do to stay fit, lose weight, and stay healthy.,
