The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cautioned its affiliated schools against the spread of fake NCERT textbooks and advised them to ensure that students use only genuine books purchased from authorized sources.

In an official advisory sent to all school heads, the board said it has received reports that some unauthorized vendors are supplying fake or counterfeit versions of NCERT textbooks, often at discounted rates. CBSE said, these books are of poor physical quality and may contain typographical mistakes and content errors, which may jeopardize the studies of students.
Schools have been asked to advise parents to purchase only authentic NCERT books from approved channels. If schools themselves purchase books, they must do so through sources recognized by CBSE and NCERT.
Where to buy authentic NCERT textbooks
CBSE has listed the following authorized channels for procurement:
NCERT Regional Production and Distribution Center (RPDC)
Authorized vendors are listed on NCERT website
NCERT Postal Supply Service through NCERT Portal
Official NCERT Amazon Storefront
Schools have also been instructed to share the advisory with teachers, parents and students and contact the nearest RPDC for any assistance.
The board said it is necessary to strictly follow the advisory to protect academic integrity and ensure that students are provided with accurate and reliable learning material.
