CBSE Exam 2024: Class 12 Physics paper tougher and longer than previous years

While coming out of the exam centre, many students said that “Physics paper was quite difficult and long, and MCQs and case study questions were difficult. The numerical problems were particularly tricky.”

Physics paper was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty. There were some difficult questions. Some of them said that it would be easy to get passing marks, but it would be difficult to get high marks. Overall it was a good paper, Hindustan Times quoted Sanjeev Kumar, PGT Physics at Silverline Prestige School, Ghaziabad, as saying.

“Overall, the Physics paper was much tougher than I thought,” India Today quoted Parth from Cambridge School, Noida as saying.

“It was a very difficult paper. This level was more difficult than the sample papers, practice papers and previous years’ questions. I practiced a lot of questions but the ones I was expecting were not asked,” said Ayush from the same school.

Ayush said that he found sections B and C the most difficult.

“It was easier than the sample paper,” Yukta of Bal Bharti School told India Today.

“The paper was long. Divyanshi of Bal Bharti Public School said, there was no time to revise the paper.

“It was a little more difficult than the sample paper. Derivations were difficult,” he told India Today, noting that MCQs and Section C were the toughest in the CBSE Class 12 Physics paper.

Another student of Bal Bharti said that the Class 12 Physics paper was complex and nothing from the previous years’ questions were asked.

Another student of Bal Bharti described the Physics question paper as difficult and said that questions like resistance and coefficients which were not asked in the last 10 years were asked this time adding that the paper was tougher than the sample papers and practice papers.

He further said that the questions of 5 marks were of moderate difficulty with easy options.

Students in Chandigarh found the Physics paper to be above average and said that the standard of the Physics paper was high.

Adhiraj, a student of Vivek High School, Sector 38, said the paper was challenging compared to the level of NCERT books and sample papers. He said it was more numerical-based and closer to the level of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam.

Kuldeep Singh, a physics teacher at GMSSS Sector 16, told Hindustan Times that the physics paper was tougher than previous years. It was above average. He said that since the numerical portion was high, he anticipated that it would be a low scoring paper for students.

CBSE will release the answer key of Class 12 Physics paper online through the official website of the board, till then they can use the unofficial answer key released by various coaching institutes to check their score.

CBSE 12th Physics Paper: Main Part

Section A consisted of 16 questions, 12 MCQs and four Assertive Reasonings of 1 mark each.

Section B had five questions of two marks each.

Section C had seven questions of three marks each.

Section D had two case study-based questions of four marks each.

Section E had three long answer questions of five marks each.

This year more than 39 lakh students are appearing in the CBSE board exams. The examinations started from 15 February. Class 12 final exams will end on April 2.
