Most of us don’t realize how much sugar we eat every day. Cancer specialist Dr. Tarang Krishna reveals 5 common everyday foods that are secretly loaded with sugar.
Sugar is everywhere in our diets, from obvious sweets to everyday foods we think are healthy. Most of us have no idea how much sugar we are actually consuming.
Dr. Tarang Krishna, cancer specialist and Dr. Managing Director at Krishna’s Cancer Healer Centre, Delhi, shared in her September 27 Instagram post 5 everyday items that are surprisingly high in sugar. “If you are consuming these things in your daily life, it means you are taking in too much sugar,” explains Dr. Krishna. “Some items you eat regularly seem normal, but they’re actually loaded with sugar.”
He further highlights the top five sugar-heavy foods that we often ignore:
1. breakfast cereal
“Just one bowl can contain 3-4 tablespoons of sugar,” says Dr Krishna.
2. Flavored Yogurt
“It may seem healthy, but the sugar content is so high that it can be equivalent to a dessert,” he warns.
3. Ketchup and Sausage
“When you eat them with fries or samosas, the added ketchup can make it impossible to track your sugar intake,” explains Dr. Krishna.
4. packaged fruit juice
“Even if the label says 100% fruit juice, many contain added sugar,” he warns.
5. tea and coffee
“We often add two to three teaspoons of sugar in the morning, which can significantly increase our sugar levels,” he says.
Dr. “Be aware and track your sugar intake carefully. Even everyday foods can contribute to sugar overconsumption without you realizing it,” Krishna advises.
