According to separate orders issued by the respective district magistrates, all schools for children up to class 8 in Darbhanga and Patna will remain closed till January 17 and 18 respectively due to cold weather and low temperatures especially in the morning and evening. Two districts, officials said on Wednesday.
Classes from 9th onwards were allowed to continue with proper precautions between 9 am to 3.30 pm in both the districts. Educational activities related to board examinations were kept out of the scope of the order.
All schools up to class 8th in Patna are closed from January 5.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in the state dropped by 4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, with Supaul and Forbesganj in Araria district recording the day’s highest temperature of 20.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The minimum temperature in Dehri of Rohtas district was recorded at 9.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the state’s highest temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sheikhpura and the state’s lowest temperature of 9.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Banka.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from January 18.
The minimum temperature of Patna is likely to be 10-12 degrees Celsius and maximum 18-20 degrees Celsius till January 16, after which the temperature is likely to gradually increase to 20-22 degrees on January 17 and 22-24 degrees Celsius the next day. . Three days earlier on January 21, the temperature had dropped again to 20-22 degrees Celsius, the IMD weather bulletin said.
The weather is likely to remain dry in the state between January 15 and 21. The weather report of the Indian Meteorological Department said that till January 17, there is a possibility of light to moderate fog in the morning at most places in the state.
Till the time of writing the news at 7 pm on Wednesday evening, one flight each of IndiGo (6E 2214) and SpiceJet (SG 713) from Patna to Delhi was cancelled. At least 14 other flights were delayed, as the first flight to land here was IndiGo from Delhi at 12:17 pm, which was delayed by more than two hours.
Meanwhile, Air India Express on Wednesday started three daily flights from Patna to Bengaluru (IX 2936), Hyderabad (IX 2894) and Bhubaneswar (IX 2759).
