If this happens then Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicle 3 (FAME 3) may come soon. This will be separate from the Production Linked Incentive Scheme. According to the information, many foreign companies want to enter the Indian market, in such a situation the government is busy preparing a new policy.
It is noteworthy that due to FAME 2, there has been an increase of 50 percent in the total sales of EV in 2023 within a year. In 2021, the sale of electric vehicles was only 1.02 percent of the total automobile sales, which increased to 6.83 percent in the year 2023. Now the government wants to increase it to 30 percent within the next six years.

You will not get any benefit from the sidelines
Electric vehicle manufacturing companies like Tesla have been trying for a long time to invest in India. According to sources, the government has no intention of giving any separate benefit to such companies. They will also be given the same benefits as will be given to domestic companies. Actually, Tesla wants to first import and sell a certain number of cars in India and after about two years, it is planning to start its manufacturing here and wants huge discount on the import duty of EV from the government. But according to government sources, no such exemption will be given to Tesla in the new policy. This policy will be the same for everyone.
The government believes that work is being done to ensure that the new policy does not have any adverse impact on domestic companies and the country can be established as an EV manufacturing hub.

According to sources, bank guarantee can be taken from Tesla and if it does not start manufacturing in India after a time, all the benefits received by it can be withdrawn, such provisions can also be considered.
when will fame 3 come
The government may launch FAME 3 in the fiscal year 2024-25 to increase EV sales and manufacturing. It is noteworthy that the period of Fame 2 is going to end in March. After this, the subsidy provided by the government on the purchase of electric vehicles can be abolished.
