The suspected killer who cut the body of a Bengaluru woman into over 50 pieces and stuffed the body parts in a fridge reportedly committed suicide in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

Before Mukti’s death, he had gone to meet his mother on Tuesday. He said he was stressed when he came home, the report said.
Mahalakshmi’s maggot-filled body, cut into several pieces and stuffed in the refrigerator, was found by her mother and elder sister at her Vyalikaval home on Saturday.
The deceased woman’s estranged husband on Sunday expressed suspicion over the involvement of a person known to Mahalakshmi, who lived alone in her neighbourhood.
“He kept saying that the girl has ruined our family,” said Mukti’s brother.
“He wanted to marry her and was taking her to Kerala on a bike. However, he accused her of kidnapping and got the public to beat her. The public beat him severely and handed him over to the police. The policemen also beat him and released him after giving Bribe of Rs 1,000. The woman’s brother along with his friends had also threatened to kill my brother. So in anger he caught hold of her neck and strangulated her. After realizing that she was dead, he initially tried to hang her body to pass off her death as a suicide. However, he could not hang it and hence cut it into pieces and kept it in the fridge before fleeing to Odisha,” he said.
