New Delhi: Sharad Kelkar has not taken any formal training in acting, but he has caught everyone’s attention by playing some interesting roles in films in the last few years. He was last seen in Ramkumar Rao starrer film ‘Srikant’. When Sharad Kelkar was asked about his role in ‘Srikant’ in News 18 India’s program ‘Diamond States Summit – Maharashtra’, he said, ‘Talking about the film, the most important thing in the career of any artist is the writer, who has thought and written the story. When director Tushar Hiranandani told the story, I liked it very much. It is a true story. I play the character of Ravi Mantha. It is very interesting. I did not think that any director would give me such a role, especially when there is stereotype casting in our industry. He is a tall man, so make him a villain or a policeman.’
Sharad Kelkar tells about his acting, ‘I am not a trained actor. I have not done theatre. I have not done any workshops, but when I was bitten by the acting bug, I felt that I should do different roles so that I can keep learning something new in life. In that series came this beautiful film ‘Shrikant’, which no one else thought of, Tushar thought of it.’

Sharad Kelkar had charged Rs 101 for the film ‘Shrikant’. When the actor was asked that the producer of ‘Shrikant’ gave you money, still why did you not take it? The actor said, ‘He did not have as much money as I take. So it is better if you don’t take it. Secondly, Tushar is also my old friend. He honestly said that if I had money, I would have given it to him. Sharad believes in his luck. He said, ‘I never thought that I would become an actor. I used to stutter and someone who stutters cannot be associated with acting. I studied. Did MBA, came to work.
