Alia Bhatt revealed in an interview why Karan Johar wanted her to wear a chiffon saree in Rocky Aur Rani.
No one is unaware of Alia Bhatt and her love for sarees. Recently, the actress gave an interview to Allure magazine, where she talked about her love for the drape and why she wore so many sarees in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
Alia Bhatt on why Karan Johar made her wear chiffon sarees for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
In a conversation with Allure, Alia Bhatt revealed that Karan Johar wanted young girls to think sarees are cool after watching her in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. “Karan Johar [the film’s director] He said, ‘I want you to wear only saris in the film and we have to make saris cool. Young girls should say, ‘Oh, I want to wear only saris,'” the actor said.
Alia wore completely chiffon sarees in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. After the film was released, the actress and her stylist in the film, Manish Malhotra, put the collection up for sale online. The sarees were sold out within minutes and many replicas started hitting the markets.
Why does Alia Bhatt love saris?
In an interview with Allure magazine, Alia said that she feels most comfortable in a sari. “It’s such a timeless garment, and I really feel most comfortable in it. It’s made especially for our climate because you’re free and spontaneous, and it looks very elegant, chic and glamorous – everything at the same time,” she said.
This statement is true as the actress has chosen traditional wear for many special moments in her life. Alia swapped the traditional lehenga for a beautiful ivory Sabyasachi saree on her wedding day. She married Ranbir Kapoor wearing a hand-embroidered organza saree. Later, she wore this lehenga again to attend the National Film Awards 2023, where she received the Best Actress award for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Alia wore a nine-yard saree for the second time at the Met Gala. She wore a mint green floral saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee on fashion’s biggest night. The beautiful outfit had a 23 feet long train embellished with silk threads, glass beads and gemstones.
