According to a senior CISF officer, this step has been taken in view of the continuous bomb threat calls received in the past few days. In fact, in the last 11 months, 999 bomb threat calls have been registered at various airports. These threat calls were received through airport helplines, airlines helplines or social media platforms. In view of these threat calls and on the instructions of the Aviation Ministry, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Securities (BCAS) had re-reviewed the airport security. 10 percent flights will be under SLPC’s control
One of these decisions was regarding Secondary Ladder Point Checking (SLPC). BCAS had asked all airlines to do SLPC in 10 percent of their total flights. He said that under the current system, passengers coming through the normal channel have to show their air ticket and identity card before entering the terminal. At the same time, identity of passengers coming from Digi Yatra channel is ensured through biometric and face recognition cameras. After this, all the passengers are screened before going to the Security Hold Area (SHA).

Till now SLPC was used in international flights
He said that this system will continue as before. Under SLPC, now airlines security staff will conduct security check of passengers at the boarding gate before boarding the plane. In the domestic sector, SLPC is done only on special occasions or in case of alert.
