Despite dropping out of the weekly domestic TV rankings following the June finale, Demon Slayer Season 4 remains a favorite on Netflix’s global charts.
With the finales of My Hero Academia Season 7 Part 1 and Demon Slayer Season 4 wrapping up a special story of the respective TV anime sagas, several fan-favorite titles dropped out of the July anime rankings. According to the latest data from Video Research for the first week of July (July 1-7), a long list of domestic anime staples returned to the TV ratings war.
Sazae-chan’s longest-running run atop the weekly TV ratings far outweighed every other anime’s performance. Without the hype surrounding Demon Slayer since the Hashira Training arc concluded on June 30, the never-ending anime series remained undisputed, garnering an average household viewership rating of 6.6%
Despite its absence in the Japanese rankings, Demon Slayer Season 4 is still a favorite on Netflix’s Global Top 10 chart. Continuing its eight-week stretch on the global rankings, the Hashira Training Arc Season garnered 2 million views on the international streamer from July 1-7, the only top-ranking anime on the TV (non-English) list.

Meanwhile, other classic anime shows such as Chibi Maruko-chan, Crayon Shin-chan, Doraemon, and Pokemon lead the top 10 charts for the first week of July 2024.
Detective Conan was also nowhere to be seen on the charts. In its absence, One Piece continued the shonen tradition, with its July 7 episode achieving a 2.9% rating via Fuji Television broadcast in the Kanto region of Japan. Behind it, isekai series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 achieved a 2.8% average rating for Nippon Television.
In addition to other commonly seen anime titles on the chart, the latest anime version of Kinnikuman also debuted at #8 after the “Perfect Superhuman Ancestor Edition” premiered on TBS on July 7. The pilot episode received a moderate 2% rating.
