It is said that it is not good to be impatient about anything. And when it comes to marriage, steps should be taken thoughtfully. After all, this is a relationship that lasts for life. But the desperation regarding this marriage proved too much for one person. This man had gone to a matchmaking agency to search for a bride, and he liked the girl whose picture was shown to him as soon as he saw it. He liked it so much that the boy emptied his entire pocket for it. He also gave a gift of about Rs 13.75 lakh to woo his family.
However, after marriage something happened which she had never imagined even in her dreams. Just two months after the marriage, his new bride started going out of the city frequently. Along with this, she started pressurizing him to buy a house and car. Then one day suddenly she did not come out of the house. The man searched hard for his wife, but it seemed as if she had disappeared. In such a situation, he went to the agency which had arranged his marriage, but found that the company had been closed.
He was not the only one who went through this trouble. Many fake companies conducting similar marriages in China have been busted. These companies were cheating unmarried men who were desperate for marriage. For this, women were made brides and presented before them. Some of these women earned up to Rs 35 lakh (3,00,000 yuan) in a few months through such fake marriages.
According to the South China Morning Post, 180 cases of matrimonial fraud were registered in a police station in Huaguoyuan area in one year. These matrimonial companies used to search for unmarried men and recruit unmarried women from small towns across the country. Most of these women were divorced and in debt. They were persuaded to be a part of this scam to earn money.
Many people cheated by flash wedding
Women were introduced to men as brides and when they agreed to marry, they were asked to sign contracts with the agency and pay millions of yuan as their bride price. However, soon after marriage, brides would often run away, disappear or put pressure on men for divorce in various ways. This type of marriage is called ‘flash wedding’.
‘Dulhan’ earned Rs 35 lakh in 3 months
Through this fraud, a woman earned 3,00,000 Yuan (Rs 35 lakh) by doing several similar flash marriages in three months. She had registered the marriage with a client in December last year, but soon filed for divorce after allegations of domestic violence. She did not return the bride price and was also given a portion of the man’s property, which included a car purchased for her. After the divorce, the woman kept going on more dates to find a new husband.
A former customer service representative at one of the fake agencies revealed that there was no shortage of men scamming customers. She said, ‘We are not at all concerned about the source of male customers. There are many people across the country. Every day we can select one male customer for blind date from 40 to 50 candidates.
